Las pesquisas llevadas a cabo por las fuerzas de seguridad del Reino Unido siguen revelando redes que se dedican a la fabricación y transformación de réplicas inofensivas en armas letales. En este marco, la Agencia Nacional contra el Crimen (NCA) ha logrado desmantelar la actividad de un individuo joven, identificado como Zain Hussain, quien ha sido sentenciado a una pena de cuatro años y once meses de prisión tras haber operado un taller clandestino en el bosque de Birmingham.
El operativo se inició en el canal Grand Union, en Birmingham, donde agentes armados lograron interceptar al sospechoso, quien comenzó sus actividades delictivas a la edad de 17 años, justo cuando se adentraba en la vegetación para excavar un hoyo y ocultar materiales.
En el sitio, las autoridades encontraron tres pistolas de fogueo que habían sido modificadas para disparar munición real, además de munición, un cuchillo de grandes dimensiones, rodamientos de bolas que eran utilizados como proyectiles improvisados y herramientas destinadas a la recarga de balas, encontrándose también el ADN del acusado en las armas.
Las evidencias obtenidas del teléfono móvil de Hussain revelaron conversaciones en las que negociaba la venta de las pistolas, a las que se refería como ‘Lucys’, indicando su nivel de conversión y planeando conseguir hasta 3.000 libras esterlinas (aproximadamente 3.500 euros) por cada unidad en el mercado ilegal.
Después de aceptar los hechos en la primera jornada del juicio ante el Tribunal de la Corona de Birmingham, el joven fue privado de libertad por delitos relacionados con la posesión y modificación de armas de fuego.

In this context, the National Crime Agency (NCA) has managed to dismantle the activities of a young individual identified as Zain Hussain, who has been sentenced to four years and eleven months in prison after operating a clandestine workshop in the Birmingham woods.
The operation began at the Grand Union Canal in Birmingham, where armed agents managed to intercept the suspect, who started his criminal activities at the age of 17, just as he was entering the vegetation to dig a hole and hide materials.
At the site, authorities found three blank-firing guns that had been modified to fire real ammunition, as well as ammunition, a large knife, ball bearings that were used as improvised projectiles, and tools intended for reloading bullets, with the accused's DNA also found on the weapons.
Evidence obtained from Hussain's mobile phone revealed conversations in which he negotiated the sale of the guns, referring to them as 'Lucys', indicating their level of conversion and planning to obtain up to £3,000 (approximately €3,500) for each unit in the illegal market.
After admitting the facts on the first day of the trial before the Birmingham Crown Court, the young man was deprived of his liberty for offenses related to the possession and modification of firearms.
