Detienen a un grupo completo de narcotraficantes en el centro del Algarve

En las últimas semanas, las autoridades portuguesas han intensificado sus operativos, logrando asestar golpes significativos a las organizaciones criminales que proporcionan la infraestructura necesaria a las grandes redes de narcotráfico. En esta línea, la Policía Marítima y la Guardia Nacional Republicana llevan a cabo despliegues continuos en las áreas costeras.

Así, la Unidad de Control Costero y Fronterizo de la GNR, a través del Destacamento de Olhão, detuvo el día de ayer a seis hombres, identificó a otros tres y confiscó más de 4.000 litros de combustible, tres vehículos y seis teléfonos móviles en las cercanías de Praia do Castelo, en Albufeira. En total, nueve personas, la mayoría jóvenes y de nacionalidades diferentes a la del país (probablemente de origen español), formaban parte de una ‘colla’ dispuesta tanto a recibir droga como a suministrar gasolina a una narcolancha.

La operación de vigilancia y control costero se llevó a cabo tras la detección de una embarcación de alta velocidad por el Sistema Integrado de Vigilancia, Mando y Control (equivalente al SIVE español, pero en Portugal), lo que motivó el despliegue de recursos terrestres, marítimos y aéreos para controlar sus movimientos y prevenir posibles actividades delictivas.

Durante el desarrollo de la operación, se confirmaron movimientos sospechosos en las proximidades de las playas de Coelha y Castelo. Las fuerzas militares lograron bloquear el transporte de una considerable cantidad de combustible destinado al narcotráfico marítimo. Además de la incautación del combustible, se logró identificar a varios individuos sospechosos de estar involucrados en la actividad delictiva. A pesar de sus intentos de fuga, nueve hombres fueron interceptados; muchos de ellos intentaron ocultarse entre las dunas, la arena y los acantilados cercanos a la playa.

Esta operación culminó con la detención de seis hombres con edades comprendidas entre 21 y 46 años, la imputación formal de un joven de 18 años y la identificación de dos adolescentes de 16 y 17 años, todos ellos de nacionalidad extranjera. Asimismo, se confiscaron tres vehículos ligeros; un vehículo de carga y dos autos de pasajeros.

De forma paralela, se intervinieron 167 bidones portátiles de combustible (aproximadamente 4.175 litros) y seis teléfonos móviles.

Pocas horas antes, la Policía Marítima había intervenido una embarcación que transportaba 2.600 litros de combustible, distribuidos en 133 bidones, así como diversos alimentos, en las orillas de la ría Formosa, en la zona de Fuzeta, también ubicada en el Algarve.

Tras recibir una alerta a las 7:40 de la mañana, que informaba sobre la presencia de una embarcación con varios bidones a bordo, se activaron de inmediato efectivos del Comando de la Policía Marítima Local de Olhão.

Al llegar al lugar, los agentes de la Policía Marítima encontraron la embarcación varada en la orilla del estuario, carente de motor y cargada con otros 133 bidones que contenían 2.600 litros de combustible, así como varios alimentos.

Se activó la Unidad Regional Sur de Investigación Criminal de la Policía Marítima, que llevó a cabo una inspección del lugar y de los procedimientos correspondientes destinados a recoger y preservar las pruebas relevantes para la investigación.

El material fue confiscado y los hechos fueron puestos en conocimiento de la autoridad judicial competente. La investigación sigue en curso para determinar el origen del material y cualquier posible conexión con actividades de narcotráfico.

A complete group of drug traffickers is arrested in the center of the Algarve.

In recent weeks, Portuguese authorities have intensified their operations, managing to deliver significant blows to the criminal organizations that provide the necessary infrastructure to large drug trafficking networks. In this regard, the Maritime Police and the National Republican Guard are conducting continuous deployments in coastal areas.

Thus, the Coastal and Border Control Unit of the GNR, through the Olhão Detachment, arrested six men yesterday, identified three others, and confiscated over 4,000 liters of fuel, three vehicles, and six mobile phones near Praia do Castelo in Albufeira. In total, nine individuals, mostly young and of nationalities different from that of the country (likely of Spanish origin), were part of a group ready to both receive drugs and supply gasoline to a drug boat.

The surveillance and coastal control operation was carried out after the detection of a high-speed vessel by the Integrated Surveillance, Command, and Control System (equivalent to Spain's SIVE, but in Portugal), which prompted the deployment of land, sea, and air resources to monitor its movements and prevent possible criminal activities.

During the operation, suspicious movements were confirmed near the beaches of Coelha and Castelo. Military forces managed to block the transport of a considerable amount of fuel intended for maritime drug trafficking. In addition to the seizure of the fuel, several individuals suspected of being involved in the criminal activity were identified. Despite their attempts to flee, nine men were intercepted; many of them tried to hide among the dunes, sand, and cliffs near the beach.

This operation culminated in the arrest of six men aged between 21 and 46, the formal charging of an 18-year-old, and the identification of two teenagers aged 16 and 17, all of foreign nationality. Additionally, three light vehicles were confiscated; one cargo vehicle and two passenger cars.

Simultaneously, 167 portable fuel drums (approximately 4,175 liters) and six mobile phones were seized.

A few hours earlier, the Maritime Police had intervened with a vessel transporting 2,600 liters of fuel, distributed in 133 drums, as well as various food items, on the shores of the Ria Formosa, in the Fuzeta area, also located in the Algarve.

After receiving an alert at 7:40 in the morning, reporting the presence of a vessel with several drums on board, personnel from the Local Maritime Police Command of Olhão were immediately activated.

Upon arrival at the scene, the Maritime Police officers found the vessel stranded on the estuary shore, lacking a motor and loaded with another 133 drums containing 2,600 liters of fuel, as well as various food items.

The Southern Regional Criminal Investigation Unit of the Maritime Police was activated, which conducted an inspection of the site and the corresponding procedures aimed at collecting and preserving relevant evidence for the investigation.

The materials were confiscated, and the facts were reported to the competent judicial authority. The investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the materials and any possible connection to drug trafficking activities.
