Agents from the Drug and Organized Crime Unit (Udyco) of the National Police linked to the Superior Police Headquarters of Melilla have successfully arrested two individuals, a man and a woman, who were crossing the border from Spain to Morocco and returning with significant amounts of hashish using a hidden compartment in their vehicle.
The police investigations led to the identification of the car's exit, a Seat model, on the 24th of this month, through the Beni-Enzar border crossing, which activated all police devices in anticipation of their return.
At the time of their arrest, the agents noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle, although the substance was not visible at first glance. It was necessary to create an opening in the floor of the car, which had a hidden compartment in that lower section, between the cabin and the underside of the car. The cargo was found in that space.
In total, 92 kilos of hashish were seized, distributed in tablets. The two detainees were presented before the judicial authority. The man was placed in preventive detention, while the woman was released on provisional bail.
