This is how those responsible for the homicide of a Belgian police officer in Almería were arrested.

The information that was reported this Monday by specialized media sources regarding the attempted escape through Spain and the arrest of three alleged individuals involved in the murder of a police officer in Brussels, who intended to board a ship bound for Morocco, has been confirmed this Tuesday by the Civil Guard.

The security body carried out the arrest in Almería of these three individuals for their supposed involvement in the homicide, committed with a firearm during duty, of officer Nordine el Talbi, 41 years old, which occurred in the town of Jette during the early hours of October 12 to 13. At the same time, as previously mentioned, two other suspects were arrested in Belgium and one more in Paris.

Due to the suspicion of a possible maritime escape to Morocco, the Civil Guard activated a police operation near the port of Almería, maintaining a real-time information exchange with Belgian authorities. Finally, after several hours of operational actions, the three suspects were arrested before they could board towards Morocco, despite their resistance.

The police action continued after the arrests with the issuance of the relevant European Investigation Order (EIO), using the mechanisms of international judicial cooperation between the judicial authorities of Spain and Belgium, to access a residence identified during the operation, with the aim of searching for evidence that could help clarify the facts and provide new evidence to the judicial authorities.

This operation has been made possible thanks to international collaboration in police and judicial matters, which allowed for direct and real-time contact throughout the process, concluding with the presentation of the detainees on the morning of October 19 before the Central Investigating Court of the National Court.

The arrests have caused a significant media impact in Belgium, which was evident in the press conference held on October 18 by the prosecutor of the case and the Chief of the Federal Police of Brussels, who highlighted the speed of information exchange and the effectiveness of the operation.
