A hitman enters a hospital in Tarragona to finish off a Turkish mobster.

A new piece of evidence regarding the complete establishment of the Turkish Mafia in Spain, which spans from arms trafficking to significant involvement in international drug trafficking, has come to light in a chilling series of events reminiscent of the plot of the movie The Godfather, occurring in Catalonia. Just a few weeks ago, Los Dalton shot a suspected mobster in the face at a restaurant on the Costa del Sol, but what happened in Tarragona exceeds any expectations.

The events began, according to organized crime expert @niporwifi, on October 16, when "a Turkish citizen was walking down Prat d’er Carbó street in Salou, Tarragona, around 8:10 PM, until he was halted in his tracks by a vehicle that opened fire on him, injuring him in the legs." They failed to achieve their goal, which, as has now been revealed, was to end his life.

The Turkish individual in question is named Mekin Büyükdeniz and, along with his brother, leads the Kardesler clan of the Turkish Mafia in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul. He escaped a police operation in his country last February, during which 26 of his accomplices were arrested, although another 16 remain at large, including his brother.

Mekin was urgently admitted to the Juan XXIII hospital in Tarragona and was under police protection for several days due to fears that other hitmen would attempt to take his life. The Mossos d’Esquadra were concerned for his safety, given the attackers' background and modus operandi.

However, early yesterday morning, when there were no officers at the hospital, a hitman arrived on an electric scooter and wearing a helmet, heading to the victim's room. There, @niporwifi recounts, and in the presence of his wife, he shot him three times.

Without removing his helmet to avoid being identified, he left the scene without being apprehended. The Mossos' operation, Cage, has so far been unsuccessful, and the shooter managed to escape.

The presence of hitmen of various nationalities in Spain is highly concerning. Catalonia has become a common setting for such activities, just like the Costa del Sol, where the murder of a surgeon in his Marbella clinic is remembered, as well as in other locations. Just this week, the National Police arrested members of an international network dedicated to torture and settling scores at a transnational level. All of this, judicial sources repeatedly assert, occurs without the authorities taking appropriate measures.
