A British group is arrested with the largest cocaine shipment recorded in Brazil.

Brazil has been recognized for years as one of the main exit points for cocaine from South America to Europe, with drugs coming not only from Colombia but also from Bolivia. However, a complete criminal cell from the Old Continent established in the country to manage these shipments had never been detected before. This week, such a situation has been confirmed, associated with a drug shipment of unprecedented magnitude in that region.

Regarding this operation, the Civil Police of Santa Catarina, through the Drug Combat Department of Itajaí, made a significant seizure of cocaine in the municipality of Piçarras, located on the northern coast of Santa Catarina, in a discovery that took place on Thursday. During the action, approximately 4.5 tons of cocaine were confiscated, with an estimated value of around 500 million dollars, in a crime that was committed in flagrante delicto.

In the subsequent press conference, the police chief emphasized the historical relevance of this seizure and the importance of specialized police units in the fight against organized crime. "On October 29, 2026, the Civil Police of Santa Catarina made history with the largest seizure of cocaine ever recorded in the state. Everything indicates that this also represents the largest seizure of cocaine in the country in a single operation," stated Marcelo Sampaio Nogueira.

The investigation began about a month ago when suspicious activities were detected in Balneário Piçarras. Based on the gathering of information and police intelligence operations, investigators began to track the movement of vehicles in the area, focusing particularly on a white van that was traveling through the municipality.

The investigation established a link between the vehicle, a warehouse, and a group of foreigners operating in the area. Initially, five suspects were identified, and later, authorities located a sixth person involved, who acted as a lookout on the property.

According to the police chief, the last 72 hours were crucial for the success of the operation. On Thursday the 29th, civil police officers approached the van and then searched the warehouse, where they found the considerable amount of drugs.

"It was a severe blow to drug trafficking. It was exciting to see when the police officer discovered the drugs and, shortly after, one of the individuals confirmed that there was a large quantity of drugs in the place," reported Eduardo Dallo.

The cocaine was stored on numerous protected pallets. During the inspection, investigators also noticed a strong smell of chemicals in the warehouse, which was likely used to mask the aroma of the drug.

The operation also had the support of the Canine Unit of the Civil Police. Furthermore, the Scientific Police conducted forensic analyses of samples of the material confiscated on Thursday, confirming that it was indeed cocaine.

The strategic location of the Itajaí region, which has significant port infrastructure, is considered fundamental for the investigations, which aim to clarify the origin, destination, and logistics of the transportation of the narcotics.

The six foreigners were arrested on the spot for drug trafficking and conspiracy to traffic drugs. The Civil Police has already requested that the arrests be converted into preventive detention.

Investigations continue with the aim of identifying the entirety of the criminal network involved in drug trafficking, including its origin, final destination, and the possible involvement of other members of the organization.
